Springwatch fans were left devastated after Chris Packham made an announcement just minutes into the latest episode of the BBC programme.
Chris Packham reveals final episode
Chris Packham, 65, and Michaela Strachan returned for another instalment of Springwatch on Thursday, June 11, broadcasting live from the National Trust Crom estate in Northern Ireland. However, as he introduced the show, Chris revealed that it would be the final episode of this year's series.
He said: "Welcome to the final programme of Springwatch 2026, coming to you from the ever picturesque estate here at Crom in Northern Ireland. It's the last of our run but we've got some great stuff coming up."
Fans quickly took to social media to express their sadness over the show's conclusion for the year.
One viewer wrote: "Last Springwatch which is sad, but it has been fantastic as always." A second agreed: "I am sad that Springwatch ends tonight, but glad that I will get to see it."
Another penned: "Final #Springwatch of the year. A really enjoyable three weeks of TV, but like the English summer it's over in no time!"
A fourth posted: "Can't believe it's last episode already, just love watching & listening to what nature has to offer, we really need a summer or autumn series not wait till winter."
Michaela Strachan encourages viewers to follow online
Although the show is coming to an end and the cameras inside the various nests will soon be switched off, Michaela encouraged viewers to head over to Springwatch's social media channels, where they can continue getting their wildlife fix over the next two weeks.
