Radio 2 presenter Scott Mills has announced he will be strictly limiting his intake of festive sweets this Christmas, all for the sake of his stage costume. The 51-year-old DJ is preparing to return to pantomime, but a previous experience where his outfit became too tight has made him cautious.
The Panto Costume Conundrum
Scott Mills will star as Mayor Mills in 'Jack And The Beanstalk' at the Swan Theatre in High Wycombe. He will be sharing the stage with Strictly Come Dancing star La Voix and Britain's Got Talent finalist Matt Edwards, who plays Jack. The logistical reality of theatre production, however, means his indulgence in mince pies is off the menu.
Scott explained that pantomime planning occurs months in advance, with actors being fitted for their costumes long before the show opens. He revealed a cautionary tale from a previous year, stating, 'Those outfits, you try them on for the first time in May, then you put them on again for rehearsal. And honestly, the first year I did it, I was like: 'Oh, this is tight'.'
The major issue, he told The Sun, is that there is no second costume and no one available during the Christmas period to alter it if it no longer fits. 'That's the costume – there isn't a second one. So, yeah, you do have to be careful of that,' he admitted.
La Voix's Busy Schedule
The news comes as his co-star, La Voix, continues to secure high-profile engagements. The Drag Race UK star, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, was recently announced as the first celebrity confirmed for the 2026 Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour.
This is a significant comeback for the performer, who was forced to withdraw from the main BBC competition due to a foot injury that shattered her dream of dancing in Blackpool. 'I loved being part of Strictly and was devastated when my time on the show was cut short because of injury,' La Voix said.
'But now I’m absolutely thrilled to have the chance to get back on an even bigger dancefloor,' she added, confirming she will be partnered once again with professional dancer Aljaž Škorjanec for the tour.
A Triumphant Return to the Stage
La Voix's schedule is filling up rapidly. In addition to the pantomime and the Strictly tour, the drag performer has also been confirmed to play Miss Hannigan in the UK tour of the beloved musical 'Annie'.
Her departure from Strictly was an emotional moment. Fighting back tears, she called her time on the show 'the most extraordinary experience' and thanked the public for their support. Her professional partner, Aljaž Škorjanec, paid a heartfelt tribute, saying, 'The world needs more of you. Strictly needed it, you made my life a joy.'
Despite the setback, La Voix stated she would leave the competition 'a braver, happier and such a more confident person'. Her resilience and subsequent bookings demonstrate a career that is very much on the rise, even as Scott Mills carefully watches his waistline to ensure the show goes on.
