Crime drama Professor T returns to ITV for its fourth series on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, after a lengthy wait for fans. The show, which began in 2021, follows Cambridge criminology professor Jasper Tempest, played by Ben Miller, who has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and assists police in solving cases.
The third season concluded in 2024. The fourth series premieres tonight at 9pm on ITV1. A fifth season has also been filmed and is set to air in the US this month.

The first three series each ran for six episodes, and season four follows the same pattern. A synopsis for the new episodes teases: "Professor T is back! As grief threatens to consume the team, Jasper Tempest is reluctantly drawn back in to help unravel increasingly dangerous and complex crimes."

The second episode airs on Wednesday, August 26, and features Zelda, Jasper's quirky aunt played by Zoe Wanamaker, taking him to a retirement home to meet a man she is dating.
The series also stars Sunetra Sarker as DCI Maiya Goswami, Juliet Stevenson as Dr Helena Goldberg, and Frances de la Tour as Jasper's mother Adelaide. Episodes air on Wednesday evenings and will drop 'soon' on ITVX.
