Professor T has returned to ITV for its fourth season, reuniting viewers with Ben Miller's eccentric Cambridge criminologist, Professor Jasper Tempest. The new episodes premiere on Wednesday, August 19 at 9pm on ITV1.
Long Wait for UK Premiere
UK viewers faced a particularly extended wait for the new season. Season four originally premiered in the US on 24 August 2025, with the British broadcast expected to follow later that autumn. A series of delays repeatedly pushed back the UK premiere.
That wait has now ended, with Jasper back at Cambridge and ready to apply his unconventional approach to some of the university's most unusual criminal investigations.
Cast Members in Season Four
Ben Miller returns as Professor Jasper Tempest. He said: "He's almost gone back to square one in terms of his OCD. We've previously seen him trying to take the gloves off, literally and metaphorically, but he ended up pulling them back on after Lisa's death. For whatever reason, he didn't comfort her as she was dying."
Miller added: "The darker side of his nature took over, and he's carrying a lot of guilt from letting her die like that. He wanted to change before, but he's really determined to change now. He can't let that happen again."
Juliet Stevenson plays Dr Helena Goldberg. She said: "They are such a great bunch of people - the cast and crew and production team are all fantastic. It's really not very common that everyone gels so well together. I've never done a returning series like this before - I did two series of a show called The Village years ago for the BBC."
Sunetra Sarker appears as DI Maiya Goswami. She said: "It was a gift of a job. I was a massive fan of the Belgian version of the show, which I watched during lockdown with my husband. The Belgian series stops at the very point when the British version starts. So when I was offered to join the third series I was like, 'Oh my God, I love that show', and the beauty is that my character was brand new and I was starting the story at the point that I'd finished watching it."
Zoë Wanamaker plays Zelda Radclyffe. She said: "I found the role of Zelda fascinating from the beginning - her relationship with Ben intrigued me, along with the script's gentle and endearing take on a police drama. It's a take we don't see often in this genre."
