Beloved television icon Paul Chuckle has reassured his legion of fans after suffering a painful fall at his home, which resulted in a trip to hospital.
An Unfortunate Trip on the Stairs
The 78-year-old comedy star, whose real name is Paul Elliott, took to Instagram to share the news with his trademark humour. He posted a photograph showing his arm in a sling, captioned: "Oh dear oh dear oh dear! ! ! Tripped UP the wooden stairs ... thankfully not on the ice, keep safe guys."
Speaking to Express.co.uk on Thursday, the entertainer explained the incident in more detail. "I actually fell and I think I've broken my elbow," he revealed. "I was in my house, I was walking up the stairs and I tripped on the step. I put my arms up to stop but hit the back of my elbow on the stairs. It's quite painful." He confirmed he was heading to hospital for an X-ray following the interview.

Fans of the Chuckle Brothers star were quick to flood his social media post with messages of support, wishing him a speedy recovery. The update comes at a significant time for Paul, who was recently named in the New Year Honours list.
He has been awarded an MBE for his exceptional charitable work with the end-of-life charity Marie Curie. Paul admitted the honour was a "huge surprise" and that he initially mistook the official letter for hospital correspondence due to its blue envelope. He is due to visit the Palace later this year to receive the award formally.

Paul Chuckle, alongside his late brother Barry, became a household name through the BBC's cherished children's show ChuckleVision, entertaining audiences for over five decades. The duo were also stalwarts of British theatre, appearing in 50 pantomimes together.
In October 2016, the brothers were appointed official ambassadors for Marie Curie. They dedicated considerable time to fundraising, donating auction prizes, and supporting campaigns. Paul has continued this vital ambassador role following Barry's passing in 2018, making his MBE recognition a fitting tribute to their combined efforts.
