Patsy Kensit flees UK snow for sunshine after battling New Year flu
Patsy Kensit swaps UK snow for sunshine after flu

While much of Britain shivers under blankets of snow and treacherous ice, actress Patsy Kensit has found a far warmer solution to the winter blues. The 57-year-old star has jetted off on a sun-soaked overseas holiday, sharing evidence of her escape from the UK's deep freeze on social media this Wednesday.

From Sickbed to Sunshine

Patsy Kensit confirmed she has left England behind for distinctly warmer climes after finally shaking off a nasty bout of flu that plagued her over the New Year. Her recovery marks a stark contrast to last week, when she was confined to her bed and forced to see in 2025 from home.

Taking to Instagram, the actress posted a picture of herself wearing a black bikini and basking in the sunshine. She captioned the shot simply: 'I need some sun!!' The post showed her in top form, a world away from the below-freezing conditions causing chaos across parts of the UK.

Recovery and Reflection

Kensit's journey to sunshine followed a difficult period of illness. Just days earlier, on Thursday evening, she had shared a photo from bed, writing: 'Still wiped out with flu but excited about this new year… happy new year to everyone.'

By Wednesday, she was celebrating her return to health, sharing a photo of her moisturised complexion and telling followers: 'Just had a much needed facial… my flu has gone but my skin is sooooo dry.' Her holiday appears to be a solo trip, without her two adult sons, James, 33, and Lennon, 25.

A Mother's Heartache

The actress recently opened up about the challenges of motherhood as her children grew up and left home. Speaking on the HELLO! Second Act podcast in September, Kensit admitted she struggled with codependency.

'Being a mother has broken my heart, because they grow and they leave,' she said. 'I was so codependent on them to the point it wasn't fair on them… So watching them leave home was tough.'

Her connection was so strong that while filming ITV's Emmerdale in Yorkshire, she would commute from her London home to avoid uprooting her sons' lives. 'I would always use the kids as an excuse like, "I have to get back to the kids,"' she recalled.

Now, with her health restored and her sons living independently, Patsy Kensit is enjoying a well-deserved break in the sun, far from the chilly grip of the British winter.
