Paris Fury has confessed she finds the idea of becoming a grandmother a 'scary' prospect, following her teenage daughter's recent engagement.
A Surprise Proposal
The wife of world champion boxer Tyson Fury sparked surprise amongst fans last month when she shared a video of her 16-year-old daughter, Venezuela, being proposed to by her fiancé, Noah, at her extravagant birthday party. The 35-year-old mother has now revealed that the engagement has prompted serious family discussions about the future.
Speaking on John Reynolds' Extraordinary Life Stories podcast, Paris disclosed, 'My daughter's just got engaged, we've had that discussion about grandkids.' She expressed a mix of excitement and trepidation about the idea, adding, 'Hopefully a few years from now but oh my goodness - I couldn't even imagine being granny! It'll be a great moment in family life but it would be a bit scary, I could be a glam granny.'
Venezuela's Perspective and Wedding Plans
In a separate interview with The Sun, Venezuela herself opened up about the shock proposal, admitting she was 'very shocked' and 'very nervous' as many people were watching. Despite the grand gesture, she insisted she 'would have been content if he had asked me to marry him anywhere', calling it 'one of the best of my life.'
The young bride-to-be also revealed a significant detail about the relationship's progression: she has not yet met her future in-laws. Venezuela explained that proper wedding planning will not commence until she has come face-to-face with Noah's parents. She noted the logistical challenges, saying, 'He lives a few hours' away from me and works during the week, so we only see each other at weekends.' The couple have not yet decided where they will live after they are married.
Family Support and Addressing the Backlash
Before the proposal, Noah, whose age is unknown, sought and received the blessing of Venezuela's famous father, Tyson Fury. Venezuela shared that Noah was 'having palpitations about doing it' but that the conversation with the heavyweight boxer went well, and her dad 'wouldn’t interfere' and is 'very happy for us.'
Paris recently found herself defending her daughter's engagement during an appearance on This Morning. When hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard questioned whether Venezuela was too young, Paris was unequivocal in her support. She hit back at the backlash, stating that her daughter is 'so mature for her years' due in part to helping raise her six younger siblings.
Drawing a parallel to her own life, Paris revealed, 'I was 17 when I got engaged, so she's obviously following in my footsteps.' She concluded with a mother's unwavering support, saying, 'I know she's young, but I think she's found the person that she loves, and if she's happy, I will completely support her.'
