New House Party Themed Nightclub Campus to Open in Liverpool
New House Party Themed Nightclub Campus to Open in Liverpool

Campus, a new nightclub themed around house parties, kitchen discos, and high-energy social club nights, will open in Liverpool on Saturday, July 25. The venue replaces OMG on Victoria Street in the city's Pride Quarter, which closed on June 6.

New Ownership and Concept

GBar owner Amy Gwynn acquired the site shortly after OMG's closure. Campus will remain an LGBTQ+ space but with a fresh identity built around the motto "You belong here." The venue aims to create a welcoming environment where individuality is celebrated.

Amy, who also runs the long-established GBar, said Campus is intended to complement her existing venue rather than replicate it. She has taken over the site, not the OMG brand, which continues to operate elsewhere in the country.

Two-Floor Design

The venue spans two floors, each offering a distinct experience. On the ground floor, The Kitchen serves as the main dancefloor area, styled to recreate the atmosphere of a classic house party. It will feature pop hits, nostalgic favourites, and party anthems.

Upstairs, The Living Room provides a more relaxed space for drinks, conversation, and singalongs, allowing guests to step away from the main dancefloor while still enjoying the music and atmosphere.

Playful Campus Theme

Across both floors, the venue includes playful references to campus life. Visitors are invited to "enrol" in the experience, where drag performers are cast as "professors" and the usual rules of academic life do not apply.

GBar's Andy Locker, DJ and club promoter for Campus, told the ECHO: "Campus is about bringing people together and reminding everyone why they fell in love with going out in the first place. We've created a venue that's playful, nostalgic and full of personality, where every room tells a story and everyone is made to feel welcome."

He added: "Everyone remembers those nights where the party somehow always ended up in the kitchen, every song was one you knew and complete strangers became your best friends for the evening. That's the feeling we've built Campus around."

Opening Weekend and Entertainment

Campus will debut over Liverpool Pride weekend with a programme of DJs, drag performances, and guest appearances. The venue's resident queens from OMG will remain at the heart of the entertainment, joined by resident DJs and themed events.

Locker said: "Amy has been at the heart of Liverpool's LGBTQ+ nightlife for some years now, and Campus is an exciting opportunity to build on that experience with something completely new. Launching in time for Liverpool Pride makes it even more special, and we're putting together an incredible line-up of entertainment to make the opening weekend one to remember."

Additional Venue Acquisition

Amy has also taken over Dorothy's Showbar, the venue beside OMG, which has acted as a sister site in various forms. However, this will be separate from Campus, and no further plans have been announced. Amy also runs Jaloux on the same street and several other venues in the city centre.

Campus officially opens on July 25. The ECHO will provide a first look inside before it opens to the public.
