London's Ultimate Rooftop Playground: Free Entry, Games, Cinema & DJs
London's Rooftop Playground: Free Entry, Games & Cinema

After a depressing week of grey skies and rain, Londoners will be looking forward to making the most of the sunny weekend ahead. A rooftop bar is the obvious choice, and there is one venue you should head straight to: Roof East.

Located on the top floor of a multi-storey car park in Stratford, Roof East is a sprawling, colourful playground stocked with everything you need to spend a day and night enjoying the warm weather. Packed with games, an open-air cinema, a variety of street food vendors, free DJ sets, and plenty of deck chairs to relax in, it is the perfect setting to unwind, gossip with friends, and indulge in a summer spritz or two. Best of all, entry is completely free.

What Is There to Do at Roof East?

Nowadays, a bar and a band just will not cut it, as Londoners expect a lot from businesses to keep their attention. That is why Roof East decided to create a mini Center Parcs right in the middle of Stratford. Starting with games, there is a lot for guests to choose from, with four that require no booking ahead of time and are entirely free: Jumbo Topple Blocks, Cornhole, Ping Pong, and Beat The Bar. If you manage to beat the world record of 1 hour, 20 minutes, and 41 seconds in Beat The Bar, you will win free tickets to any of Roof East's games for life.

The activities do not end there. There are also four premium games that do require booking: Crazy Golf at £10 per adult player, Archery from £25, Glitter Bowls from £24, and the batting cage from £30. Anyone want to recreate the baseball scene from High School Musical 2?

If games are not your thing, Roof East also hosts a summer open-air cinema season. Showing films like Notting Hill, A Star Is Born, Hoppers, Jurassic Park, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, there is something for everyone. Partnering with the Rooftop Film Club, you will find a wireless headphone at every seat, rows of single lounge chairs and two-person seats, each with a clear line to the screen, and the nearest bar just a few steps away. The roof also features standout views of the ArcelorMittal Orbit, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and the high-rise skyline of Canary Wharf.

Standard cinema tickets range from £17 to £19. If you want to take a special someone to an 8pm showing of Pride and Prejudice, you can purchase a Love Seat ticket for £23. This double-wide loveseat comes with prime views, full cushions, a side table, and popcorn.

Street Food and Drinks

No rooftop venue is complete without a good selection of street food. At Roof East, there are three main vendors: fried chicken at Chick 'n' Sours, burgers and Mac and Cheese bites at Cheeky Burger, and Shawarma and Falafel at Piddaji. There is also a full bar serving everything from pints to Pimm's.

What People Are Saying

Having just reopened for the 2026 summer season, Londoners have been keen to check out the space and share their thoughts on social media. TikTok creator @sineadtravels visited a few weeks ago and was highly impressed, calling it London's ultimate rooftop playground. Another user @monettjanelle shared that it was the perfect chill spot this summer, while @sheraipinx applauded the pretty and colourful vibes. However, many urged anyone interested to book games far in advance, as slots fill up extremely quickly.

Things to Know About Roof East

If you plan to visit, here are a few handy details. The rooftop is open Tuesday to Friday from 5pm to 11pm, Saturday from 12pm to 11pm, and Sunday from 12pm to 10pm. While you can pre-book activities, tables are first-come, first-serve. If you are planning an event or birthday party, you can enquire about reserving a private space.

The venue is in a car park, so if you drive, you can take your pick of spaces. For those taking the tube, take the Central or Jubilee line to Stratford. Exit to Great Eastern Way, cross the road towards Stratford Shopping Centre (the original one, not Westfield), go inside, and take the lift to level 8. Then, have fun!
