Kathy Griffin Breaks Silence on Andy Cohen Email After 8-Year Feud
Kathy Griffin Reveals Andy Cohen Email Exchange

Comedian Kathy Griffin has publicly shared her candid thoughts about television producer Andy Cohen, her former "difficult boss," following their first email exchange in eight years. The revelation came during her stand-up performance at The Grove of Anaheim last Saturday.

The Long-Awaited Email

The 64-year-old comedian described receiving a lengthy email from Cohen at 10 PM, noting that "half of it was sort of nice." Griffin speculated that the Bravo executive had likely vetted the message with lawyers before sending it, suggesting it read as if he anticipated she would eventually share it on stage.

"He didn't really apologise, but he kind of did a 'sorry, not sorry,'" Griffin told her audience. "The tenor was sort of civil." Despite her mixed feelings, the two-time Emmy winner admitted she responded quickly and emotionally, confessing: "I wish I were back at Bravo. It was a fun place to work and it was a great place to do specials and all that stuff."

History of Conflict

The fragile reconciliation appeared to sour on November 14 when Griffin watched Cohen discuss their email exchange during his Ask Andy panel at BravoCon. The Watch What Happens Live host casually mentioned: "Well, never say never about [mending friendships with] anyone, but Kathy and I emailed the other day."

Griffin reacted strongly to his public comments, recalling: "You emailed me for the first time in eight years after doing me dirty and taking my job on New Year's Eve and firing me from Bravo, but okay. Like, I don't actually want to have a beef, but that did hurt. And that whole experience did hurt."

Their professional relationship dates back to 2009 when Cohen served as executive producer for her Bravo series Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List. Despite the show's critical success - earning six Primetime Emmy nominations with wins in 2007 and 2008 - Griffin claims Cohen "harassed me and treated me really poorly."

Allegations and Fallout

In 2017, Griffin made explosive allegations against Cohen, claiming he twice offered her cocaine backstage before appearances on Watch What Happens Live. "Jimmy Kimmel or Seth Meyers has never asked me to do blow before going on the show," she stated at the time. "No one from The View has ever asked me to do blow before a show."

Cohen vehemently denied these claims, tweeting: "I am completely stunned by this story. It is 100% false and totally made up." He later pretended not to know Griffin during a TMZ interview.

The comedian's career faced severe challenges following her 2017 Trump mask controversy, which led to a government investigation, placement on the no-fly list, FBI visits, and the loss of endorsement deals, her comedy tour, and her CNN New Year's Eve hosting gig.

According to a Bravo source who spoke to the National Enquirer last week, Cohen remains "terrified" about potentially inviting Griffin on his show because he "can't control her." The insider alleged: "Andy's image is carefully curated, and Kathy knows too much. He'd rather keep his distance than risk being exposed on live TV."

Griffin concluded her recent show by describing the situation as a "maybe," leaving the door slightly ajar for potential future reconciliation while acknowledging the complicated history between the two entertainment figures.
