Oscar-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis became visibly emotional during a recent television appearance, where she drew a stark contrast between the grace of the late Princess Diana and what she described as the 'hatred' emanating from some political leaders.
An Emotional Tribute to Princess Diana
The Hollywood legend appeared on ITV's This Morning on Tuesday 25 November 2025 to discuss her new film, Ella McCay. However, the conversation took a poignant turn when she recalled a personal connection to Diana, Princess of Wales.
Curtis explained that she nearly met the late royal in 1997 when Diana visited the set of Fierce Creatures with her young sons, Princes William and Harry. 'Unfortunately, we missed one another,' Curtis shared, revealing that she subsequently wrote Diana a letter. To her surprise, she received a reply just two days later.
Fighting back tears, the 67-year-old actress reflected on Diana's legacy. 'She was an extraordinary person,' Curtis stated. 'What an example. And look at where I live, and look at the example of the leaders, look at the example of the people leading my country and the hatred that they feel.'
Condemning 'Vile' Political Behaviour
Her comments served as a direct lead-in to her stark criticism of former US President Donald Trump. Curtis specifically referenced recent footage of Trump insulting a female reporter, calling his actions 'unacceptable behaviour.'
'I think that unhinged moment of his abuse and vile behaviour is going to be his undoing,' she asserted, leaving no doubt about her feelings towards his conduct.
In a further comparison, Curtis praised the 'grace and dignity and kindness and generosity' displayed by the current Princess of Wales, Catherine, highlighting a different model of public service.
Promoting New Film and Addressing Social Media Dangers
The primary reason for her This Morning interview was to promote her latest cinematic project, Ella McCay, which also stars Emma Mackey. Curtis spoke highly of director James L Brooks, noting his talent for capturing the complex reality of family life.
Beyond film, the actress voiced serious concerns about the impact of technology on youth. She described young people's use of social media as 'an epidemic' and strongly endorsed schools that ban smartphones.
'It is an epidemic. It's awful,' Curtis warned. 'We all have to be very, very, very, very, very, very concerned about social media for our children.'
