Hollyoaks confirms major character death as Rex Gallagher is killed
Hollyoaks confirms Rex Gallagher death in shocking twist

Hollyoaks has confirmed the death of Rex Gallagher, played by Jonny Labey, after Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) discovered his body in the garage. The mechanic was shot by an unknown assailant in last week's episodes, just hours after rekindling his romance with husband Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson).

Rex's final hours

Rex had been exploring his identity by wearing feminine clothes, which Ste struggled to accept. The couple talked things over during a dinner date last week, and passion ensued. However, after a late-night call out to the garage, Rex was shot by a mystery character. Ste was left perturbed when Rex didn't return home, and the next morning, Darren stumbled upon the body at the garage.

Detective Donny Clark (Louis Emerick) soon arrived to investigate and broke the news to Ste. Ste raced to the garage, where Leela Dexter (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) confirmed the body was Rex's. Ste broke down in her arms, devastated by the loss of his husband.

Who killed Rex?

The question remains: who is responsible for Rex's death? Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring), who has just returned to the village, made it clear she will shed no tears for Rex, a former criminal and associate of gangster Dave 'Blue' Williams (Dominic Power). Could she have been involved, or was it someone else? The investigation is ongoing.

Hollyoaks streams Mondays to Wednesdays from 6am on Channel 4's streaming platform, with episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
