The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to bring their two children to the United Kingdom for the first time in over four years, according to recent reports. Prince Archie, aged seven, and Princess Lilibet, aged five, last visited Britain in 2022 during the platinum jubilee celebrations of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Security Concerns Addressed
Prince Harry had previously lost a legal battle against the Home Office regarding automatic police protection while in the UK, citing safety concerns for his family. However, he has since received a full risk assessment and is awaiting a final decision from the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec), the Home Office committee responsible for authorizing such protection. Harry intends to bring his family to an event next month promoting the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games for wounded military personnel, which are scheduled to be held in Birmingham in 2027, after being assured that adequate security provisions would be in place, as reported by the Daily Telegraph.
Potential Reunion with King Charles
King Charles III has not seen his youngest grandchildren in person since 2022, and it remains uncertain whether he will meet them during the upcoming visit. An LA-based business associate of Harry and Meghan, who reside in Montecito, California, indicated to the newspaper that there has been a "warming of the frost" between the king and his youngest son following Harry's public criticisms in his memoir, Spare, and various television interviews. Harry has reportedly told friends in the US that he is "excited" for his children to reconnect with their paternal grandfather. The source stated: "Harry says he's coming back before the end of the year with the children with the express intent to reunite with his dad."
Previous Meeting and Future Plans
Harry met his father last September at Clarence House in London, marking their first face-to-face meeting since February 2024. This meeting was seen as a positive step toward improving their relationship. During next month's visit, the duke will also visit many of his remaining patronages, including WellChild and Scotty's Little Soldiers.
