TV broadcaster Gaby Roslin has described her new show as having 'many layers of joy' as she takes on a new animal-packed series. The TV broadcaster will be back on ITV as she hosts brand new show The Joy of Pets opposite Dr Bolu Eso.
With pets featuring in more than half of homes across Britain, Gaby and Dr Bolu embark on a journey around the UK to explore the special place animals hold in people's lives. Throughout their travels, they meet devoted owners and hear touching stories that highlight the powerful connections between people and their pets.
Remarkable animal relationships
From tales of companionship and loyalty to extraordinary cases involving animals that have helped save lives, the programme showcases some truly remarkable relationships. The pair will also share practical advice for pet owners, discovering useful tips, techniques and products to help people care for their animals. Veterinary experts will offer guidance along the way, providing helpful advice for owners looking after all kinds of pets.
When asked by ITV if this show is her dream series, Gaby expressed her delight in the new show and how it came about. She said: 'Yes, it’s just a show with many layers of joy. I came up with the idea, and I went to Bandicoot because I love the guys over there.'
Gaby's personal pet story
'It’s pets, it’s joy... and it’s a big naughty, which I like! We don’t take ourselves too seriously, we’re working with the best in the business and for me, I’m getting to work with Bolu!' she added. But when asked about having any pets of her own, Gaby revealed that due to her husband's allergies, she is not able to.
She shared: 'My husband is allergic to dogs and cats, so I spent a lot of time taking my friends’ dogs for a walk. I grew up in a house full of animals; when I was born, there was already a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, there was a cat that was mainly outside, there was a tortoise, two rabbits and we used always take the guinea pigs home from school to look after them in the holidays.'
'My mother was obsessed with animals so that’s definitely where I got it from. She was adamant that they stayed out of cages... the tortoise used to go running with the dog in the garden! And then we got another dog and my mum bred her, so we had puppies running round and we kept one of them. And then here, we’ve had two guinea pigs, a hamster and two rabbits. I have a plan to have more,' she shared.
