Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) has taken drastic action in Emmerdale, hitting Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) with a shovel and leaving him tied up as she attempts to flee the village.
Dawn believes her fiancé Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) is responsible for leaving her ex-husband Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) with a brain injury. However, Billy did not tell Dawn that he learned his attacker was actually Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill), not Joe. Instead, Billy suggested they run away to Spain together, a plan backed by Caleb Miligan (Will Ash), who wants to see Joe destroyed.
Dawn's Escape Plan Unravels
Dawn was easily persuaded to leave, having previously prepared to walk away from Joe when she learned more about his dark side. Caleb was initially unhappy to learn Billy had dropped police charges against Joe for the depot attack, but perked up upon hearing the rest of Billy's plan to destroy Joe's life instead. Caleb relayed this to Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly), who agreed and warned Caleb to ensure Dawn is never found.
On the wedding day, Graham tries to reassure Joe all will go well, but his fake smile suggests otherwise. Dawn is on edge as her plan comes together, made more difficult by Kim's return. She uses the memory of her father to keep her guilt at bay and get Kim out of the way. Billy also battles his conscience, knowing things might be different for Dawn if she knew Joe didn't hit him.
Graham Discovers the Truth
Neither Dawn nor Billy considered Lucas as a variable. Suspicious questioning from Graham sees Lucas confess the escape plan. Graham catches Dawn outside the stables packing suitcases into the car while on the phone to Billy. He is flabbergasted, but Dawn asserts Joe is a wannabe killer and she needs to protect herself. Graham points out that Billy could not be sure his attacker was Joe since he was hit from behind.
"It changes everything for her," actress Olivia Bromley told Metro. "She doesn't want to leave him, she deeply loves the man." Without enough time to reflect on his words, Dawn's desperation wins out as Graham tries to snatch her keys. She snatches a shovel and whacks him over the head.
Dawn Makes Her Escape
Dawn leaves Graham tied up and heads for the road. With the promo showing Dawn in funeral garb, it remains unclear whether she and Billy both make it out alive.
