Doctor Who star David Tennant made a rare public appearance with his 14-year-old daughter, Olive, as they attended the highly anticipated opening night of Paddington: The Musical at London's historic Savoy Theatre on Sunday.
Stylish Family Outing
The 54-year-old actor, who is father to five children, cut a sophisticated figure on the red carpet. Tennant opted for a fashionable plaid overcoat layered over a cable knit sweater and smart trousers. Completing his ensemble with trendy glasses and comfortable trainers, the actor beamed with pride as he posed alongside his daughter.
Olive, who has already begun following in her famous father's footsteps with several acting roles, looked lovely in a navy shirt and mini skirt combination. The young actress added black cowboy boots to her outfit and wore her beautiful blonde hair in loose curls, demonstrating a keen fashion sense beyond her years.
Family Life and Career
David Tennant shares his children with actress wife Georgia Tennant, 40. Together they have Wilfred, 12; Doris, 10; and five-year-old Birdie. The actor is also stepfather to Georgia's 23-year-old son Ty from her previous relationship.
Olive has already established herself in the entertainment industry, making her film debut in Kenneth Branagh's 2021 acclaimed movie Belfast, where she appeared alongside acting legends Dame Judi Dench and Jamie Dornan. She later starred in the television series Avoidance with comedian Romesh Ranganathan.
Paddington Comes to the Stage
The new musical production features music from McFly's Tom Fletcher and tells the beloved story of the small bear from Peru who finds himself in London. After a chance encounter with the Brown family at Paddington Station, the bear finds a new home and countless adventures.
The opening night attracted numerous celebrities beyond the Tennant family, including Dame Joan Collins, who looked chic in a faux fur coat and matching hat at 92 years old. The Voice host Emma Willis and her husband Matt also attended, along with Tom Fletcher's McFly bandmates and his sister, musical theatre star Carrie Hope Fletcher.
The production arrives as Paddington Bear himself recently declared his iconic blue duffle coat "in vogue" during an interview with British Vogue, where the magazine praised the character as a positive representation of immigrants succeeding in Britain.
The family outing provided a welcome positive moment for the Tennants, coming weeks after Georgia Tennant had contacted police about receiving vile death threats on social media, including one that offered a reward for her murder.
