Corrie Stars React to Maudsley and Robbins' Long Friendship

Coronation Street stars have been quick to share their comments as Tony Maudsley showed how his relationship with co-star Amy Robbins stretches back long before they were on the famous cobbles.

Long-Standing Friendship Revealed

Those who follow the ITV soap best know the actor for playing George Shuttleworth, having made his debut on the cobbles back in 2020. He was revealed to be the son of Archie Shuttleworth, a local undertaker who ran Shuttleworth's Independent Funeral Directors on Tile Street, which George was now in charge of following his father's passing.

Meanwhile, Amy reprised the role of Christina Boyd in Weatherfield last summer. The character was last seen on the cobbles earlier in 2025, after being double-crossed by her daughter, Daisy Midgeley, who ended up doing a runner to Bali.

On-Screen Romance Blossoms

Christina also left the street in the aftermath of what happened with Daisy and her former step-mother, Jenny Connor. Then, in August, Christina was seen back in Weatherfield, much to Jenny's dismay.

As Corrie fans know, Christina was soon seen growing close to George Shuttleworth, who Jenny also had a crush on. But Jenny ended up leaving the cobbles, and both George and Christina have seen their romance blossom ever since.

Friends for 25 Years

And the relationship between the two characters has meant that Tony and Amy can work together, having been friends for more than 20 years. "We've been friends for 25 years," Amy previously told the Metro. "I first met him on a film called My Beautiful Son, which we made with Julie Walters, and we stayed in touch for all these years. It was lovely when they put our two characters together."

Since working together again, Tony has shared regular updates on social media that include Amy, either from years gone by or while they're filming together at Corrie's Salford-based set.

Throwback Photo Sparks Reactions

In a new Instagram post, Tony shared a throwback photo of himself and Amy, alongside which he wrote: "You see? People don't believe me! The woman's a man eater! Even 16 years ago she couldn't keep her hands off me! Your dreams finally came true @amylouiserobbins_ #GeorgeAndChristina #Corrie #LuckyGirl."

Amy was seen responding to the post, as she wrote in the comments section: "I'm not MADE OF STONE Maudsley!" And their Corrie co-stars who were also quick to comment on the post.

Sally Carman-Duttine, who plays Abi Webster, said: "Oh I love this so much! [love heart eyes emojis]," while Shona Platt actress Julia Goulding replied: "This is absolutely glorious!" Jonathan Howard, who plays Carl Webster, also gushed: "I love this."

Corrie fans, meanwhile, were also keen to show their support for their on-screen partnership. @carey_barney_milo_freddie commented: "Love you two together on Corrie." @t_r_quercus wrote: "Love you two on the show! They better not make Christina a bad guy again!" @jeanhosler47 added: "Love you two together. You're both so Corrie. Tony Warren would be so pleased with your characters."
