Coronation Street's Maria and Kit Team Up to Expose Gary and Sarah's Secret
Coronation Street: Maria and Kit Unite Against Gary and Sarah

Coronation Street actress Samia Longchambon, who plays Maria Connor, has teased dramatic scenes next week as Gary Windass and Sarah Platt face accusations, leading to unexpected twists. Maria finally confronts her husband Gary, accusing him of sleeping with his ex Sarah Platt.

Secretive Behavior Unravels

Gary and Sarah's secretive behavior has had fans guessing for weeks. Their private chats and sudden closeness have not gone unnoticed by Weatherfield residents. All will be revealed, however, as a dramatic dinner party, hosted by Sarah's partner Kit Green, sees Maria publicly accusing Gary and Sarah of having an affair. Gary is also forced to defend himself to detective Kit, who accuses him of being linked to Theo Silverton's murder, after a recent flashback placed him at the scene of the crime.

Despite Kit's murder theory, Samia Longchambon says her character is adamant she has rumbled Gary's big secret. Samia, 43, explains: "She's known for a few weeks that something is definitely not right between her and Gary. She's been clocking these little sneaky conversations he's been having with Sarah, and she's put two and two together. She's just convinced that they must be sleeping together."

Dinner Party Chaos

As the dinner party guests reel from the accusations, Gary insists Maria has got it all wrong. Spoilers tease that disaster strikes, with blood splattered across the table and broken glass everywhere. Keeping coy on what happens next, Samia shares: "She's kind of lit the fuse, so she's not shocked! The moment Sarah's partner Kit invited her to the dinner party, she thought, 'Right, brilliant. This is where I'm going to do it. This is where I'm going to confront both of them and let it all out.' Her reaction to the chaos is pretty much to be expected!"

As the party guests deal with what has unfolded, it leads to Theo's partner Todd Grimshaw demanding the truth about Gary's link to Theo's demise. He questions close friend Sarah about whether Gary knows more than he is letting on, and her answer leaves him feeling he has no one to turn to. With friendships and relationships in tatters, Maria's plan could not have gone any better.

Samia's Excitement

Samia says she loved filming the chaotic episode, with Maria getting to put Sarah in her place. She says: "I feel like it's been building and building and she just lets rip at Sarah! Everything she's been scared of saying for the last few weeks just comes out after a sip of wine - it doesn't even take much wine! It's definitely a lot of fun to play Maria when she's like this. I feel like most of my scenes with Gary are always her having a go at him, but this is next-level! There's a real fire in Maria here and I love it when she's feisty and we get to see that side of her. But I also like her having fun with David in the salon!"

Maria and Kit's Alliance

Maria and Sarah have not seen eye-to-eye for a long while, especially given Sarah's history with Gary. It is not just Maria tricking Gary and Sarah into revealing everything though, as Kit initially orchestrates the dinner party solely to get answers from Gary. Samia explains: "Maria and Kit are coming at this from completely different ends of the spectrum. Kit thinks Gary and Sarah have something to do with the murder, whereas Maria doesn't think that. So she figures, 'I'll just work with Kit on this, and we can both confront them together.'"

Marriage on the Rocks

Coronation Street fans can expect a frosty atmosphere between both couples in the aftermath too. Samia warns it could be the end for Maria and Gary, who have already been through so much since they tied the knot in 2020. They have survived Gary's recent attack, his criminal dealings, and his killer secret after he murdered loan shark Rick Neelan in self-defence in 2019. Despite all that, Samia says Gary's latest betrayal could be what ends their marriage. She says: "It's a lot to get through. If they can get through this, I feel like they can weather any storm. They've been through a lot of trials in their relationship already, but this is definitely the most challenging thing they've ever had to navigate."

Whodunit Mystery

Whether Gary killed Theo or not is still to be confirmed, but Samia teases fans will not be left disappointed by the outcome. She says: "I feel like the viewers have been so patient with this whole whodunit storyline for months! I think they'll be incredibly excited to finally see who the murderer is. It will definitely have been worth the wait because I don't think many people suspect who actually did it." Gary has been named an official suspect by the soap, alongside Todd, Summer Spellman, Danielle Silverton, George Shuttleworth, and Christina Boyd. The murderer will be identified later this month, while some clues could be revealed next week, so fans should keep their eyes peeled.

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
