Coronation Street fans fear Betsy Swain death foreshadowing

Coronation Street fans are once again voicing concerns for Betsy Swain after a recent episode appeared to foreshadow a tragic fate for the teen. In the latest scenes, Betsy revealed her plans to leave Weatherfield, but her choice of words had viewers on edge.

Betsy's plans to leave Weatherfield

During the Tuesday (June 16) episode, an emotional Betsy spoke to Dylan Wilson about the lingering trauma from her former boyfriend Mason Radcliffe's death. She later told her best friend Lauren Bolton that she had been offered a place at a fashion college in London. After breaking the news to Dylan, he encouraged her to tell her mother, DS Lisa Connor-Swain, and stepmother, Carla Connor-Swain.

In Friday's (June 19) episode, Betsy shared her plans with her mums. While Carla was delighted for her Underworld protege, Lisa was more apprehensive about the move.

Fans spot 'death' foreshadowing

However, it was Betsy's parting words that sparked alarm among viewers. She told her mums, "I love you both, to death," which many interpreted as a dark omen. Social media erupted with theories, with one user writing: "Betsy saying 'i love you both, to death' made me feel two very different ways??? on one hand it was so cute but on the other hand, my brain went straight to them foreshadowing something DRASTIC."

Another fan commented: "I did the exact same thing...feels slightly too optimistic about the future." A third added: "Betsy saying 'I love you both too death' I smell another attempted murder this Christmas #swarla."

One viewer pleaded: "'I love you both to death' Na if we didn’t get life support Lisa in Corriedale then I forbid you to go down this route with Betsy Corrie #Swarla."

Upcoming storyline

Betsy, played by Sydney Martin, has been central to several major storylines, including discovering a dead body on her mothers' wedding day. She is also set to be involved in a 'coming of age' storyline with Dylan Wilson, played by Liam McCheyne. The characters recently faced a threatening encounter with a gang in the precinct, which left Betsy shaken and reminded of Mason's tragic knifecrime death.

As fans await further developments, many fear that Betsy's future on the cobbles may be cut short. Whether the foreshadowing leads to a dramatic exit or a near-miss remains to be seen.
