During the Tuesday (June 16) episode, an emotional Betsy spoke to Dylan Wilson about the lingering trauma from her former boyfriend Mason Radcliffe's death. She later told her best friend Lauren Bolton that she had been offered a place at a fashion college in London. After breaking the news to Dylan, he encouraged her to tell her mother, DS Lisa Connor-Swain, and stepmother, Carla Connor-Swain.
In Friday's (June 19) episode, Betsy shared her plans with her mums. While Carla was delighted for her Underworld protege, Lisa was more apprehensive about the move.

However, it was Betsy's parting words that sparked alarm among viewers. She told her mums, "I love you both, to death," which many interpreted as a dark omen.
