Debbie Webster's angels, the lady squad who have rallied to support their friend through her early-onset dementia battle, have been a highlight of Coronation Street. Bernie Winter, Christina Boyd, Glenda Shuttleworth, and Sally Metcalfe form a girl gang of strong, supportive northern ladies. Sally can be irritating with her superiority complex, Glenda feels blue without a boyfriend, Bernie is a headache, and Debbie is a handful. But Christina remains a mystery.
Christina has won viewers' hearts since Amy Robbins' role was upgraded to series regular, but she was a bit of a cow in her first stint. Arriving for daughter Daisy Midgeley's wedding to Daniel Osbourne, she feuded with Jenny Connor. Christina supported Daisy's cruel con on Jenny but planned to fleece her own daughter, and Daisy left alone with the loot. Upon return, Christina reignited beef with Jenny over undertaker George Shuttleworth, won him, and Jenny left the street. Christina became ensconced with George's surrogate family: Todd Grimshaw, Summer Spellman, and Theo Silverton.
Theo was recently murdered after his monstrous true colors emerged. Christina is an official suspect but has been ignored by coppers Lisa Swain and Kit Green, despite lying about her movements on the night of his death and pushing George to implicate Summer. Christina made a phone call pleading for help until she 'sorted the mess'.
Today's double episode saw Debbie's angels give her an unforgettable experience. Ronnie Bailey attempted a Spanish getaway, but Debbie felt unsafe leaving the country. Ronnie then created a Spanish wonderland in the function room, with Ryan Connor as personal waiter. Throughout the day, Christina was distracted by her phone, despite the group vowing to ignore outside interferences.
Sally and Glenda exchanged cross words, and Sally referenced Christina's phone use. TV Times revealed Glenda will pursue Christina's secret and discovers she is still in contact with ex-husband Lenny, leading Glenda to fear Christina's intentions toward her brother. But with Theo's murder still hanging, is Christina merely playing away or covering a darker secret?
