Casualty: Stevie Nash Escapes Dismissal After Complaint, Dylan Relapses
Casualty Stevie Nash Escapes Dismissal, Dylan Relapses

Stevie Nash has escaped dismissal after a complaint was made against her, but the fallout has led to Dylan Keogh relapsing into alcoholism. The senior consultant was summoned to Flynn Byron's office to learn her fate following a report by former friend Dylan, who uncovered her secret relationship with Matty Linlaker.

Stevie's Secret Relationship Exposed

Stevie had been conducting a clandestine relationship with Matty after Kim Chang's tragic death. When Matty admitted he was falling for her, Stevie ended the fling via text. Matty confided in his father Dylan, who was horrified to learn not only of the sexual relationship but also that Matty had covered for Stevie when she unknowingly overdosed a child.

Despite Matty's insistence on handling it himself, Dylan reported the matter to Flynn, prompting an investigation into sexual coercion. The news left Stevie horrified, while Matty adamantly denied any coercion. Dylan told the HR board that Stevie should not continue working at Holby ED.

The Verdict: Guided Practice and Restrictions

After saving a patient's life last week, Stevie argued she deserved to keep her job. This week, Flynn delivered the verdict: 'The medical director has decided that on this occasion he will keep this on an informal basis and will not investigate any further.' Stevie will undergo guided practice under Flynn's supervision and must stay out of resus for now. Matty will be buddied with Rash Masum.

Dylan felt the punishment was too lenient for endangering a life and covering it up. The trio struggled to move on, with Dylan feeling betrayed by Stevie, who believed he tried to end her career. Matty remained appalled that Dylan ignored his wishes.

Dylan's Relapse Shocks Matty

The stress took its toll on Dylan, who had to deliver a keynote speech at a dinner that evening. Given the animosity, he expected to attend alone. However, Stevie urged Matty to make things right with his father. Matty arrived in time to see Dylan's speech but was shocked to see recovering alcoholic Dylan grab a glass of champagne.

Discussing Matty's feelings, actor Aron Julius said: 'I think Matty attaches Dylan's alcoholism to his mum's pain... At first there is a defensiveness... but I think as the story goes on, there is more of an understanding, and empathy, and a sympathy.'

Casualty airs Saturday at 8:10pm on BBC One or streams from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
