Casualty fans have picked up on chemistry developing between two surprising members of Holby ED. The BBC One medical drama is usually packed with chaos and lives in danger, so a romance storyline is a welcome contrast.
Fans Spot Chemistry Between Jan and Siobhan
Audience members have noticed something appears to be developing between paramedic boss Jan Jennings (Di Botcher) and Clinical Nurse Manager Siobhan McKenzie (Melanie Hill). It has not been directly confirmed that Jan fancies Siobhan or vice versa, but the two women have been involved in scenes that have left viewers convinced something is brewing.
Recently, Jan went to remove a black mark from Siobhan's face and gazed into her eyes a little too long for someone who only wants to be her friend. On social media platform X, Cam said: 'jan and siobhan ??? IM ACTUALLY A PROPHET #casualty.' Ryan echoed: 'Jan and Siobhan need to get together.' Another fan wondered: 'Is anyone else excited for Jan and Shiv #casualty.' Michelle responded: 'Meee they would make a lovely couple!'
Reddit Users Add to Speculation
On Reddit, a user wrote: 'I can see the two maybe getting into a relationship or sharing a drunken kiss, especially with the scenes they shared lately.' Another penned: 'Yeah I think we are gearing up for a “more than friends” storyline.' A third noted: 'I’m not sure but I think Jan needs some love in her life. I think she’s a bit lonely since she split up with her partner.'
Both Jan and Siobhan could do with some happiness. Jan's life has been quiet in recent years; she is a lonely soul after splitting from partner Fi following trouble with son Ross. Beloved nurse Siobhan is still healing after being raped by a man while walking home from work.
Dylan Keogh's Relapse in Lethal Legacy
In Casualty's latest boxset Lethal Legacy, there has been a great focus on Dylan Keogh's (William Beck) relationships with Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) and Matty Linklater (Aron Julius). After discovering that Matty and Stevie were sleeping together, Dylan got revenge by reporting Stevie. Unable to deal with the stress and betrayal, Dylan will relapse in upcoming episodes, as confirmed by star Aron Julius.
'When you’ve grown up with someone being like, “oh you’re father’s this, and your father’s that”, I think Matty has built up a picture in his mind of what alcoholism is, or what his father is,' Julius said. 'He said it to Dylan, before he knew that Dylan is his father, Matty said, “Mum binned off the sperm donor, he’s an alky”. I think when you’re faced with someone who is afflicted with those problems, you realise that alcoholism isn’t exclusive to people who are down and out.'
Julius added: 'I think Matty attaches Dylan’s alcoholism to his mum’s pain, and his mum not being able to achieve the things she wanted to achieve. I think at first there is a defensiveness to it, and there is a view of this is the problem, you’re the problem.'
