Amy Schumer Hints at Marriage Struggles Amid 50lb Weight Loss Revelation
Amy Schumer hints at marriage struggles in candid post

Comedian and actress Amy Schumer has sparked concern after appearing to suggest her seven-year marriage to husband Chris Fischer is facing significant difficulties. The 44-year-old star made the comments in a lengthy and candid post on her Instagram Stories this week, where she also addressed the reasons behind her dramatic 50-pound weight loss.

Marital Hints Amid Health Explanation

While the bulk of Schumer's post focused on her health journey, she directly referenced her relationship with Fischer, whom she married in 2018. She appeared to respond to speculation about not wearing her wedding ring, stating she "never ever wears jewellery." More pointedly, she admitted there are issues, writing: "Whatever ends up happening with Chris has nothing to do with weight loss or autism." This latter comment referenced Fischer's autism diagnosis.

She concluded her thoughts on the matter with a note of hope, saying, "Fingers crossed we can make it through, he's the best." These remarks follow exclusive reports from the Daily Mail in October, where an insider claimed Schumer was "100 percent getting divorced," and a subsequent source in November stating the couple were going through a "rough and difficult time."

The Real Reason Behind Her 50lb Transformation

Schumer used the platform to set the record straight about her physical transformation, clarifying she lost 50 pounds, not the 30 previously reported. She explained this was not for aesthetic reasons but to "survive" a serious medical condition. The 'Trainwreck' star revealed she had been diagnosed with Cushing syndrome in 2024 after fans noted the puffiness in her face—a common symptom.

The condition, caused by excessive cortisol often from steroid injections in her case, can be fatal if untreated. "I had a disease that makes your face extremely puffy that can kill you but the internet caught it and that disease has cleared," she wrote. She is now "pain-free" and able to play with her six-year-old son, Gene, whom she shares with Fischer.

Plastic Surgery, Medication, and Celebrity Support

In her characteristically transparent style, Schumer admitted she had undergone plastic surgery "over the years" and had used the weight-loss medication Mounjaro (tirzepatide). She also touched on her experience with perimenopause, which she first discussed publicly earlier in 2024.

The post garnered support from fellow icon Madonna, who commented: "Why do you feel like you need to apologize for looking after yourself? People are always going to have their judgments and their opinions. Do what makes you feel happy and healthy."

Schumer ended her message with an apology of sorts, stating, "Sorry for whatever feeling it's giving you that I lost that weight," and "Sorry to anyone [that] lets down," emphasising her primary goal was health and survival above all else.
