Foo Fighters delivered two phenomenal back-to-back performances at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool this week, drawing thousands of fans to the home of Liverpool FC on Thursday, June 25 and Saturday, June 27. The concerts marked the first time the band has performed together in Liverpool, though frontman Dave Grohl previously joined Sir Paul McCartney on the Anfield stage in 2008 for a legendary Beatles tribute show celebrating Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture.
Fans Brave Scorching Heat
The Liverpool Echo was outside Anfield Stadium both days, capturing eager fans queuing in soaring temperatures. An amber weather warning was issued for Merseyside ahead of the shows, with temperatures predicted to reach 35°C. Despite the heat, fans lined up hours before the doors opened, excited to hear the band's iconic rock anthems.
Fan Stories from Around the World
Javier Soto, 35, and his partner Mar Herrero, 38, traveled from Granada, Spain, to see the band. Soto told the Echo: 'I'm back in Liverpool with my girlfriend, I'm excited for her to see the city as well. It's really good to come back.' David Falshaw, 60, originally from Liverpool but now living in Wolverhampton, shared his history with the band: 'My love for the band started way, way back, one or two years after Kurt Cobain died. A friend of mine, who lived next door, said I've got a free ticket if you can drive. I thought, 'It's a free ticket let's go.' I was absolutely blown away by them.'
