The Yorkshire Vet farmer Chris Jeffrey has shared a health update from hospital after undergoing a “painful” knee replacement surgery.
Chris, best known for his appearances on the Channel 5 show The Yorkshire Vet, posted on Instagram a selfie showing him wearing knee-high stockings and a bandage on his knee, alongside a walker and hospital bed.
Recovery update
In the post, he told fans: “Well a week ago today I walked out of hospital with my new knee!
“I must admit, it’s flipping painful and sleeping is a real issue. Fingers crossed in another week’s time I will start feeling more mobile and less pain. Loads to do on the farm!”
Fans sent their best wishes, with one commenting: “Best wishes for a speedy recovery Chris.” Another said: “Slow and steady wins this race Chris. Been there, got the T-shirt!” A third added: “Best wishes Farmer Chris, sending healing hugs.”
Return to farming
Chris has faced a difficult period following the death of his wife Kate to breast cancer three years ago. He said he felt unable to continue on the farm without her, and sold the farm and the animals before moving away.
He explained: “We were having just the most lovely life with our cattle, sheep and pigs. I decided that I couldn't and didn't want to do it on my own. So I decided to sell the farm and sell the animals and move away.”
However, Chris admitted he became “bored” and decided to return to farming alongside his son Rob. He said: “So, I'm going to start farming again. I can’t have Kate back but I know I can have the farm back.
“I know she's there, looking down on me, thinking, ‘That's a great thing to do,’ and I know she'd be supporting me.”
He named the new farm Oakwood and had sheep brought over to Yorkshire from Wales, adding: “It’s nice to be doing it again, especially with family.”
