CBS has released the official trailer for its upcoming Yellowstone spinoff, Marshals, which premieres on Sunday, March 1 at 8pm ET. The trailer hints that Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes, may suffer a devastating personal loss before joining an elite unit of U.S. Marshals. Scenes showing a doctor pulling a white sheet over a body and Kayce speaking with a woman have led fans to speculate that his wife, Monica, may be killed off.
Set after the events of Yellowstone, Marshals follows Kayce as he leaves ranch life behind to become a U.S. Marshal. According to the official logline, the series combines his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence.
Several familiar faces from Yellowstone will return for Marshals, including Kelsey Asbille as Monica (though she has not officially signed on), Brecken Merrill as their son Tate, Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater, and Mo Brings Plenty as Mo. New cast members include Logan Marshall-Green as Pete Calvin, a friend from Kayce's military days; Arielle Kebbel as U.S. Marshal Belle; Alexandra Santos as U.S. Marshal Andrea; and Jaylen Means as U.S. Marshal Miles. Peter Cullen will recur as Harry Gifford, head of the U.S. Marshals in Montana.
Marshals is one of several Yellowstone projects in development. Others include The Madison, a Paramount+ series starring Michelle Pfeiffer about a wealthy New York family moving to Montana; The Dutton Ranch, following Beth, Rip and Carter; a prequel titled 1944; and a series set at Texas' Four Sixes ranch.
