Yellowstone Spinoff 'Y: Marshals' Trailer Drops, Sets March 2026 Release
Yellowstone Spinoff 'Y: Marshals' Trailer Released

The highly anticipated first full-length trailer for the new Yellowstone spinoff, Y: Marshals, made its explosive debut on social media this Monday, giving fans their first proper look at the latest expansion of the Dutton universe.

Returning Faces and New Additions

Luke Grimes reprises his role as Kayce Dutton, this time leading an elite team of US Marshals operating in Montana. The trailer confirms several familiar faces from the original Yellowstone series will join him, including Gil Birmingham as Broken Rock Reservation chief Thomas Rainwater, who delivers a powerful line to Kayce: "All of the Duttons are born killers, but you're different. You're a protector."

Fans also get a glimpse of Brecken Merrill, now 17 years old, returning as Kayce's son Tate Dutton, appearing significantly more mature than during his Yellowstone days. According to Deadline, Mo Brings Plenty will also return as Mo, though notably absent from the trailer was Kelsey Asbille as Kayce's wife Monica, leaving her participation uncertain.

Expanding the Marshal Ranks

The series has bolstered its cast with several new regulars, including American Horror Story star Ash Santos, Killers of the Flower Moon actor Tatanka Means, and The Vampire Diaries alumna Arielle Kebbel. They'll play Kayce's fellow US Marshals Andrea, Miles, and Belle respectively.

Additional casting reveals Brett Cullen, known for playing Thomas Wayne in Joker, will recur as Montana's head of US Marshals Harry Gifford, while Logan Marshall-Green from Prometheus appears as Kayce's old military buddy Pete Calvin.

Storyline and Production Background

The official logline promises Kayce will attempt to "bring range justice to Montana," where he and his team must balance "family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence." The series will tackle everything from gang members and cartels to the untamed wilderness, including encounters with Grizzly bears.

Y: Marshals is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, March 1, 2026, streaming on Paramount+ in the UK. The spinoff arrives following the conclusion of Yellowstone's fifth season in 2024, which saw Kevin Costner's character John Dutton killed off after the actor's departure from the series.

Luke Grimes previously commented on Costner's exit in a Men's Health interview, stating: "Hopefully everyone can see that it was time. To be really honest, there was a part of Kevin being gone that meant some of the conflict was gone." Grimes noted he hasn't spoken to Costner since the Oscar-winner left the show, though he clarified there were no hard feelings between them.
