CBS has greenlit 'Y: Marshals' (working title), a Yellowstone sequel starring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, for its midseason lineup. The drama will air Sundays at 9 P.M. and follows Kayce as he joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring justice to Montana.
The official logline states Kayce must balance family, duty and the psychological cost of serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence. The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, with Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Spencer Hudnut, Luke Grimes, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari executive producing. Hudnut also serves as showrunner.
CBS President Amy Reisenbach addressed budget concerns, stating, 'We don't do cheap,' but noted the show's budget aligns with other broadcast series. Regarding Sheridan's involvement, she said, 'We're still early in the process. He's a very busy guy, so we'll take what we can get.'
The announcement follows another Yellowstone spinoff starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, revealed last December. 'Y: Marshals' will be distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.
