Arthur Fery will play on Centre Court at Wimbledon for the first time after the tournament granted his request, leaving the BBC with a potential scheduling conflict with the World Cup match between Spain and Portugal on Monday.
Fery, the last British player remaining in the men's or women's singles draws, is scheduled to face Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round on Monday. The 22-year-old earned his spot after a gruelling five-set victory over Zizou Bergs on Court 18.
Fery's Centre Court debut
Speaking to BBC Sport, Fery expressed his excitement about the move. "Of course, it would be awesome to play on Centre, I've never played on there. Probably the most emblematic tennis court in the world so it would be incredible to play there," he said.
Fery is scheduled to play second on Centre Court, following the women's singles match between Jasmine Paolini and Alexandra Eala. The Centre Court action begins at 1:30pm BST.
BBC's scheduling headache
The BBC faces a potential scheduling clash as the blockbuster World Cup round of 16 match between Spain and Portugal is due to air on BBC One at 8pm on Monday. However, with Centre Court play starting at 1:30pm, the tennis is expected to finish well before the football kick-off, minimising the overlap.
Fery acknowledged the challenge of facing Dimitrov, a former world number three. "I've seen Grigor play loads, obviously a great player with a great career so I'm looking forward to the challenge and obviously it's going to be a good experience," he said.
