Neighbours' 35th anniversary celebrations concluded this week with a dramatic finale that has left viewers with more questions than answers. The late-night specials saw Finn Kelly (Rob Mills) terrorise characters on a remote island, but his villainous nature was finally exposed to Elly Conway (Jodie Anasta) in the final episode. However, the ending raised numerous unresolved plot points.
After realising Finn's true nature, Elly fled with her baby Asta, but Finn caught up with them, snatched the baby, and disappeared. A time jump left viewers wondering whether Elly survived. Meanwhile, Toadie (Ryan Moloney) was rescued by Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis), but their escape was thwarted when the car they used belonged to Harry Sinclair, who pulled a gun on them after they threatened to expose Finn.
In other cliffhangers, Finn set fire to the bush, engulfing the island in flames. Chloe, Kyle, Hendrix, Roxy, and Pierce were last seen confronting Finn before the fire started, leaving their fate unknown. Bea and Harlow remained trapped in a mine shaft, with Harlow showing serious symptoms after a snake bite. An end-of-episode preview showed Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne) in Finn's company, suggesting she may be in danger.
The episode also featured the wedding of Jane Harris (Annie Jones) and Des Clarke (Paul Keane), but viewers are left wondering if they will get a happy ending. The biggest mystery remains the identity of the final death, with one more character confirmed to die. Neighbours continues on Channel 5 from Monday 23 March.
