Hacker T Dog Joins Blue Peter as Full-Time Presenter

Hacker T Dog, the beloved canine comedian known for his cheeky humour and Wigan accent, is set to become a regular presenter on the iconic children's programme Blue Peter from September. The puppet, a CBBC favourite for over 16 years, has previously appeared as a guest presenter and will now join the main presenting team alongside Abby Cook, Joel Mawhinney, Shini Muthukrishnan and Henry the Blue Peter pet dog.

“It’s dead exciting!” said Hacker T Dog. “Thank you for letting me aboard the mighty ship Blue Peter. I am privileged, nay proud, to be involved in this fine institution and top-notch show. That’s right folks, it’s me Hacker The Dog, national treasure, and new Blue Peter presenter.”

Sarah Muller, BBC Senior Head of Children’s Commissioning, commented: “Audiences already love Hacker’s guest appearances on Blue Peter, and now he’s officially joining the team this September as we unveil the show’s fresh new look. Viewers can expect plenty of mischief from the one-and-only Hacker T Dog.”

Puppeteer Phil Fletcher, who grew up with Blue Peter, expressed his delight at joining the team. Hacker has become a fan favourite through his participation in festive specials, Red Nose Day and Children in Need shows, as well as presenting craft segments.

Hacker will make his debut as presenter number 44 on Friday 5 September, marking the occasion with a special tour of his hometown, Wigan. The new series promises epic adventures, creative crafts and homegrown storytelling, with Abby, Joel and Shini continuing to take on challenges such as sea kayaking, puffin conservation and Royal Marines training.

Blue Peter is produced by BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions for BBC Children’s & Education. The show's new look and refreshed format will be unveiled on 5 September, ushering in an exciting new chapter for the world’s longest-running children’s television programme.
