ITV has confirmed that the final series of the hit detective drama Vera will air in January 2025, according to a television advertisement that aired on Thursday night. The ad encouraged viewers to catch up on previous episodes on ITVX before the new series starts.
The beloved show, which first aired in 2011, stars BAFTA winner Brenda Blethyn as DCI Vera Stanhope. The final series will consist of just two episodes, along with a behind-the-scenes documentary titled Vera, Farewell Pet.
Brenda Blethyn recently filmed her last scenes as Vera and appeared at a celebration event titled 'Vera - End of an Era' at London's British Film Institute, alongside author Ann Cleeves. At the event, host Emma Kennedy announced that the final episodes would air 'in the next year'.
