Tynemouth Metro Station Named Best in North East by TV Star

Big Brother 2023 winner Jordan Sangha has named Tynemouth as the best Metro station in the North East, describing the 1882 structure as arguably one of the finest in the UK. The reality TV star, known for his content on the region's hidden gems, placed Tynemouth at the top of his ranking of the four best stations on the network.

Jordan Sangha's Top Four Metro Stations

In fourth spot was West Monkseaton, with Sangha struck by the 'art deco design' of the station, which he said helped it feel 'almost international'. Just behind in third was Whitley Bay, with the station dating back to 1910 and setting up travellers perfectly for 'a day at the beach'.

Runner-up position went to Central Station, helped by Sangha's love for The Centurion pub right next to it, where he said drinkers can 'cosplay as a Victorian industrialist'.

Why Tynemouth Took the Top Spot

The Grade II listed Tynemouth station attracts a big crowd every weekend for its much buzzed about and eclectic Market. Sangha referenced its history as 'the holidaymaker station' where people would escape the 'smog of the city' to get some sea air.

The Metro has been in the headlines recently with the rollout of the new fleet of trains and plans for three new stations at Follingsby, Washington North and Washington South. Sangha's ranking comes as he continues his content focused on the North East, covering the best places to visit and the region's hidden gems.
