Two Weeks in August: BBC Greek drama to binge this weekend

All eight episodes of the BBC drama Two Weeks in August, set on a Greek island, are available to binge-watch on BBC iPlayer this bank holiday weekend. The series, released earlier this summer, follows a woman named Zoe who travels to Greece with family and friends hoping to rediscover joy in her life, only for an illicit kiss to turn the dream holiday into a nightmare.

Plot and Premise

The BBC described the show: "Zoe begins to act on her deepest desires and the holiday she hoped for becomes a reckoning for a group of adults who refuse to grow up. When they discover they are trapped on the island, and become faced with real life-or-death situations, the group soon turn on each other to find out who is to blame."

The synopsis adds: "Is Zoe responsible for the drama and destruction around her or, as heaven turns to hell, are bigger forces at play? We are in Greece after all, the land of the ancient Gods…"

Cast and Creators

The series stars Jessica Raine as Zoe and Damien Molony as Dan. Produced by Various Artists Limited for the BBC, the show combines holiday excitement, humour and heartbreak. Writer Catherine Shepherd expressed her excitement about bringing the story to screen.

She told the BBC: "This is a story about what it’s like to try and be happy in a very anxious and confusing world and at its core, about a woman struggling to play all the roles she’s been given by life. How do you enjoy yourself for two weeks in August when the world appears to be falling apart around you?"

How to Watch

The first episode's description reads: "Zoe and her family arrive on a remote Greek island, hoping for a holiday reunion with friends will be an escape from reality. But her husband Dan's dark secret threatens to ruin everything, while a hedonistic first night party sets off a chain of events that will change them all forever."

All episodes are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
