Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher have left their roles as coaches on The Voice UK after just one series, forcing ITV to rush to find replacements for the upcoming 15th season, according to reports.
The McFly duo joined the ITV competition series last year as the first ever coaching pair, replacing Olly Murs and Anne-Marie. They sat alongside Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am, and LeAnn Rimes for series 13. Production on series 14 has reportedly been completed, but the release date has not yet been confirmed.
Commitment Conflicts Force Departure
A source told The Sun: 'Tom and Danny loved their time on the show, but a full series is a huge commitment. Tom is back and forth from New York, working on taking Paddington: The Musical over there from London’s West End — and he’s also in and out of the studio writing the eighth McFly album with Danny. As much as they would have liked to return to The Voice, sadly it’s impossible.'
ITV declined to comment when contacted by Metro. Filming for series 15 was reportedly due to start this autumn, which may also affect host Emma Willis's availability, as she has taken on a role on Strictly Come Dancing.
Emma Willis's Future Uncertain
Willis has hosted The Voice since 2014, initially alongside Marvin Humes and solo from 2017. While she will return for series 14, it remains unclear whether she will continue beyond that due to her new hosting duties with Johannes Radebe and Josh Widdicombe on Strictly Come Dancing this autumn.
Kelly Rowland Joins for Series 14
LeAnn Rimes announced last year she would exit the show to focus on her US career. Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland will replace her for series 14. In a statement, Rowland said: 'I’m looking forward to working with the excellent and passionate coaches the show is known for. I can’t wait to hear all the new talent and to go to battle for my team. Let’s go!'
Metro also contacted Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher for comment. The Voice will return for series 14 on ITV1 and ITVX.
