TV host kicks drone into model's face, apologises

A model on a Mexican late-night TV show was left bloodied after a comedian kicked an airborne drone into her face during a live broadcast. The host has since apologised, and the network has agreed to cover her medical expenses.

Incident on Es Show

Isabella Rojas appeared to suffer cuts to her lip after host Ernesto Chavana booted the drone on the programme Es Show on Monday, sending it directly into her face. The moment drew a shocked reaction from fellow guests, one of whom checked on Rojas before a production staff member escorted her backstage.

Chavana, who did not rush to help her, initially appeared to blame his crew for flying the drone too low. He was seen shouting in their direction: "See what you just caused!"

Apology and Aftermath

Rojas later returned to the set after receiving first aid, and the host offered an on-air apology before telling her the shape of his new shoes had caused the accident. According to Mexican media, bosses at Multimedios, the operator of Canal 6, summoned Chavana for a meeting to discuss workplace safety and potential disciplinary action.

A statement by the show read: "Isabella is doing well after her minor accident."

Social Media Reaction and Support

The incident prompted an outcry on social media, with a number of viewers calling for Chavana to be sacked, and his unbothered demeanour immediately after the strike was heavily criticised. In a message of support, his daughter Mafer wrote on social media: "Before anything else, you are my dad and I love you... you are not alone."

Chavana released a video message via social media the day after the show aired, saying: "Here I am to face up to it. I am not hiding. I am aware of the mistake I made yesterday by kicking a drone during a situation that came up on the programme. I offered apologies to Isabella on air and I took full responsibility for the event."

The network and Chavana confirmed they will pay for any further medical treatment arising from the incident. Rojas, who regularly appears on the show as a dancer and model, began her career as a content creator before joining the popular late-night Spanish-language variety show. She currently has around 178,000 followers on Instagram, where she posts clips of her modelling work, lifestyle content, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of her TV appearances.
