Traitors star scraps tell-all podcast after BBC warning

Joanne McNally's planned tell-all podcast episode about her time on Celebrity Traitors has been scrapped after the BBC warned it would violate her contract, her producer has confirmed.

The comedian, 43, had recorded a special episode of her My Therapist Ghosted Me podcast about her experience as a Faithful on the BBC show, which brought her close to the final. However, the episode will not be released.

Producer explains why episode was pulled

McNally's podcast producer Joe Attewell said the episode was recorded on a Friday afternoon and was quickly edited for release after the finale. He said: 'I think it is now, eight to nine thousand messages we've had, and rightly so, asking where that promised bonus extra episode went that was going to come out on Sunday.'

He added: 'We recorded that on Friday afternoon. It was a tell-all, behind the scenes and all about Joanne's experience on Celebrity Traitors.'

Attewell joked about being 'bundled roughly into the back of a BBC van' late on Friday evening, saying: 'They told me in no uncertain terms that just about everything that had been spoken about on the podcast was a violation of contracts that had been signed.'

Co-host's reaction and behind-the-scenes details

McNally's co-host Vogue Williams said she spent 'ages' researching and writing questions for the episode, adding: 'I was finally getting to interview McNally and I was very dusty, hungover, but I was still there smiling.'

McNally joked: 'We'd be taken to the gallows. Sometimes you've got to protect the privacy of the game and I understand that now.'

Metro understands there was no threat of legal action from the BBC and the van reference was tongue-in-cheek.

Maya Jama has already shared some behind-the-scenes moments with McNally on social media, writing: 'I love you my ball of fun. Most of our time together wasn't included because we spoke about everything other than the game and hid in the toilets telling secrets.'

She added: 'Fun fact about halfway through everyone stopped having their one drink a night so they could focus, so we sneakily drank theirs. Cling, cling.'

It is understood that stars are not permitted to go to the toilet together, and fellow 2026 contestant Joe Lycett has referenced being chaperoned on trips to the loo. Celebrity Traitors is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
