Contestants on the BBC series The Traitors do not sleep at Ardross Castle, the show's main filming location in the Scottish Highlands. Instead, after each day's roundtable and banishment, they are transported separately to undisclosed lodgings near Inverness Airport.
During the first episode of series two, host Claudia Winkleman explained: 'All the players must leave immediately and return to their individual lodgings where they can't see or speak to anyone.' The cast are kept isolated from each other and have no access to phones or contact with the outside world.
While the Faithfuls remain in their separate accommodations, the Traitors secretly gather to decide who to murder that evening before returning to their own rooms. The next morning, everyone reconvenes at Ardross Castle for breakfast, where the latest murder victim is revealed.
Ardross Castle, a 19th-century Scottish Baronial style mansion north of Inverness, serves as the primary setting for breakfasts, roundtables, and some missions. Most challenges, however, take place in the surrounding Highland countryside.
