Tommy Fury and John Host BBC Podcast 'What The Fury?!'

Tommy Fury has confirmed he is joining forces with his father, John Fury, for a new BBC venture described as the 'ultimate showdown'. The pair will host a video podcast titled What The Fury?!, available on BBC iPlayer and BBC Sounds. The 10-part series promises family banter and fiery debates on topics ranging from kids and masculinity to AI and entertainment.

Father-Son Dynamic on Display

The BBC announced that the podcast will see Tommy and John "sit down face to face to clash over the biggest themes and craziest phenomena of modern life." Each episode focuses on a subject that has undergone major changes in recent decades, including kids, masculinity, AI, money, homes, food, relationships, gadgets, holidays, and entertainment. The episodes build to a final verdict: whether Tommy has modernised John's thinking or John has convinced Tommy he was right all along.

John Fury's First Podcast Experience

John Fury, 61, described the experience as a "shock to my system" since he has never done anything like it before. He said: "Well from what I’ve seen it’s very very funny, different and down to earth. It’s actually a shock to my system as I’ve never done anything like this in my entire life. It’s been a very enjoyable experience. I’m learning new stuff every day, meeting new people, getting to know what they are about and getting to know their ways. It’s very inspiring and I loved every minute of it."

Tommy Fury on Open Conversations

Tommy, 27, found the conversations natural and easy. He said: "I can talk to my dad about anything, so I found it all really easy and free-flowing. There wasn’t any awkwardness during the podcast where I felt I couldn’t say something to him. Everything was out in the open." He added: "I would describe What the Fury?! as a complete contrast between the old school and the new generation. You get some great points from both sides, and sometimes we even share the same opinion, so it’s a good mix. There are things we’ve discussed on the podcast that my dad has never spoken about before, and in fact, neither have I. So, it’s something new for the audience to listen to."

Background and Availability

The podcast follows Tommy's documentary series with the BBC, Tommy: The Good. The Bad. The Fury, which ran for two series. What The Fury?! is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer or listen on BBC Sounds.
