This Morning vet Dr Scott Miller in tears over cat Yeti

This Morning's resident vet Dr Scott Miller became emotional during Friday's live episode (October 30) as he revealed his own cat, Yeti, had been hit by a vehicle the night before.

Hosts Dermot O'Leary and Sian Welby opened the show with the day's headlines, including James Acaster's Celebrity Traitors exit and an interview with Ashley Walters about his directorial debut, before welcoming Dr Scott to discuss pet news.

Vet Reveals Cat's Injuries On Air

Dermot introduced the segment by referencing new court laws being proposed to give cats greater protection on the roads, then offered his condolences over the incident involving Yeti.

Dr Scott explained: "It's life imitating art a little bit. You know, as a vet, we have to deal with people going through these things, and I think it's really hard when it's your own. I came home from the clinic, I tracked him and saw that he was on the other side of a road, and he should never have been over there."

He described following the cat, climbing underneath fences, and finding Yeti unable to move and covered in his own faeces, before taking him to the vet practice.

Fighting Back Tears Over Yeti's Condition

Dr Scott said "Sorry" as he fought back tears, then continued: "He's got a broken spine at the back. He is toileting this morning." Dermot pointed out this was a "good sign".

The vet added: "Yes, he's showing signs that he's going to be able to do that on his own this morning, at my practice. My poor, beautiful boy, Yeti. I feel beyond guilty, because he is just a cat that loves to go out."

ITV audiences were quick to share their sympathies after watching Dr Scott become tearful on screen. "Poor Dr Scott and cat," one person posted on X, while another commented "Awww Scott" and a third said "I want to give Dr Scott a hug."

Dr Scott had announced the news on Instagram on Thursday evening, posting: "I love my cat too.. but he's hurt." He subsequently added: "Hi All, thanks for the kind messages. Yeti has made it through the night, he is toileting which is the most important thing, but his tail is not moving. I'll keep you all posted."

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am.
