Fans of the crime drama This City Is Ours have been sharing the same reaction after the first episode of series two aired on BBC One at 9pm tonight (October 25). All eight new episodes are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
The new series picks up six days after the dramatic end to series one, when Banksey (Mike Noble) killed cartel member Ricardo by running him over on Old Hall Street.
Fresh Start in Spain
The first episode sees Michael Kavanagh (James Nelson-Joyce) and Diana Williams (Hannah Onslow) arrive in their Spanish "happy town" as they attempt to start a fresh life together away from the criminal world they survived in the first series. However, it is not long before they find themselves being followed across Spanish plains as they are dragged back into the fold to answer questions around Ricardo's death.
As the plot quickly thickens, the tense and gritty series has not dialled back any of the drama. With the first series having attracted an average of 6.1 million viewers, by fans' reaction to the recent series, it could be anticipated that the second series will be just as popular.
Fans Praise the Show
While some will be enjoying the show as it airs on TV every Sunday and Monday at 9pm, others have not been able to resist watching it all in one sitting. Responding to one of the ECHO's Facebook posts about the series, many fans have been saying the same thing as they heap praise on the show, describing the series as well and truly bingeworthy.
One fan said: "On the last episode now it was [definitely] worth the wait it's been incredible! Amazing acting." Another said: "I've watched all the episodes today, fantastic." A third added: "I've watched them all couldn't wait." Stopping short of a spoiler, another fan said: "Binge watched them all day, gutted about the end."
Filming Locations
Fans of the show will have likely also recognised some of the Merseyside locations that appear throughout the series with film crew having been spotted across Merseyside throughout 2026. Film crew were spotted in Crosby back in March this year and with a notice about filming of This City Is Ours season two also appearing at Moorfields station in the same month. ECHO photographers also captured filming taking place in various locations including Lark Lane and Old Hall Street.
