In the season finale, set a year after Belly called off her wedding to Jeremiah, she is living in Paris. Conrad surprises her on the eve of her 22nd birthday. They spend the day together, culminating in a dance by the Seine, a kiss, and a night together at her apartment.
Belly initially questions whether their connection is driven by grief over Susannah's death. However, after Conrad leaves for Brussels, she realises she will always love him. She chases after him onto his train and declares, 'Conrad, I choose you, of my own free will,' while wearing his infinity necklace.
The final scene shows Belly and Conrad together at Cousins Beach a few years later. Meanwhile, Jeremiah strikes up a romance with his former co-worker Denise, hinting at a new relationship for him.
