The Rookie returns to UK screens on Tuesday 17 February 2026 at 9pm on Sky Witness, with new episodes dropping weekly on NOW. The eighth season kicks off with a chapter set and filmed in Prague, Czech Republic, where John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) and Bailey Nune (Jenna Dewan) chaperone cooperating criminal Monica Stevens (Bridget Regan).
Series creator Alexi Hawley has hinted that future seasons may also begin with international episodes, following the success of the Prague shoot. He told Deadline: 'I would definitely say I would probably do something like that again next season... Being in Prague really brought me face to face with how popular the show is, especially internationally.'
Hawley teased that season 8 could be 'our biggest season ever, just in terms of set pieces and action', with episode 3 described as 'very intense' and later episodes leaning into horror. The entire central cast returns, including Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T Jones, Mekia Cox, Shawn Ashmore, Jenna Dewan, Lisseth Chavez, Melissa O'Neil and Eric Winter.
Deric Augustine has been promoted to series regular as Miles Penn, while Bridget Regan reprises her role as Monica Stevens, who secured immunity in the previous finale. Hawley noted that Monica's immunity deal has 'other facets' that could play out in season 8, and that the show will explore 'what does the next chapter look like for her'.
UK viewers are about six weeks behind the US launch (6 January 2026), but this is a much faster turnaround than in previous years. The series was renewed last year, with ABC boss Craig Erwich praising its ability to attract new fans, comparing it to Grey's Anatomy.
