ITV's true crime drama The Lady has finally arrived, chronicling the story of Jane Andrews, the former royal dresser to Sarah Ferguson, who murdered her boyfriend Thomas Cressman in 2000. The four-part series began airing on Sunday, February 22, at 9pm on ITV and ITVX.
Unlike the traditional weekly broadcast, the second episode will air on Monday, February 23, at the same time. The final two episodes will be shown the following week, again on Sunday and Monday, with the concluding episode scheduled for March 2.
Andrews, who worked for the Duchess of York for nearly a decade, attacked Cressman with a cricket bat before stabbing him with a kitchen knife at their London home. She was convicted of murder in 2000.
Writer Debbie O'Malley described the story as 'tragically heartbreaking as any fabricated thriller', adding that Andrews' 'fairytale has a dark and deeply disturbing underbelly'. The drama explores how Andrews rose from a working-class background in Lincolnshire to Buckingham Palace, and her eventual downfall.
