Fans of ITV's The Chase were left furious on Tuesday evening after what they described as the 'worst ending to a show ever'. A team of four contestants—Mark, Rhom, Rebekah, and Kath—failed to secure any prize money against 'Dark Destroyer' Shaun Wallace.
The team struggled throughout the episode, with Mark, Rhom, and Rebekah all caught by the Chaser in their individual rounds. Only Kath, a retired customer assistant, managed to bank £4,000 for the team before facing Shaun alone in the final chase.
Kath's performance in the final round was underwhelming, as she answered only five questions correctly. The Chaser easily surpassed her total, catching her with one minute and 33 seconds remaining. The team left with nothing.
Viewers took to social media to express their dismay. One tweeted: 'Only caught the last 5 minutes... Missed a classic ...not. #thechase.' Another wrote: 'A waste of an hour see you all tomorrow #thechase.'
Shaun Wallace praised Kath's efforts but criticised her teammates, saying: 'You were let down by Rhom and Mark who should've stuck to the middle and it could've been a completely different outcome.'
In a separate incident, Shaun recently mocked host Bradley Walsh for a poor impression of Prime Minister Boris Johnson, declaring it 'sounded nothing like him'. Bradley admitted it sounded like 'me doing Tony Blair with a mouthful of marbles'.
