The Beast In Me Ending: Nile Jarvis's Fate Revealed

Netflix thriller The Beast in Me concludes its first season with a decisive victory for one neighbour and annihilation for the other. The series follows reclusive author Aggie Wiggs (Claire Danes) and ruthless businessman Niles Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), whose bitter feud ends with only one survivor.

Throughout the season, Aggie investigates Niles after FBI agent Brian Abbot warns her about the danger he poses. Abbot's pursuit costs him his life when Niles murders him in a brawl at the end of episode four. The fate of Niles's ex-wife, Maddie, is revealed in a flashback: she had been cooperating with the FBI to expose Niles's corrupt business practices, but her assistant Nina (Brittany Snow) inadvertently revealed her betrayal, leading to Maddie's death.

In the finale, Niles attempts to frame Aggie for the murder of Teddy Fenig, the man she blames for her son's death. However, Nina, now pregnant with Niles's child, secretly records a conversation in which he admits to killing Maddie and Teddy. She passes the recording to the authorities, providing the crucial evidence needed to convict him.

Showrunner Howard Gordon kept the ending secret from the cast, with Danes and Rhys only receiving the first three scripts. Danes, who worked with Gordon on Homeland, trusted his storytelling. The series concludes with Niles's fate sealed by Nina's covert recording, which is admissible in New York State courts.
