Netflix's gripping new psychological thriller, The Beast in Me, has captivated audiences since its release on 13th November 2025. The series stars Claire Danes as Aggie Wiggs, a reclusive author living in solitude after the tragic death of her son.
Her isolated existence is disrupted when Matthew Rhys's character, the enigmatic Nile Jarvis, moves in nearby. Jarvis was previously suspected of being involved in the disappearance of his ex-wife, Maddie, prompting Aggie to launch a dangerous and obsessive investigation into his past.
The Shocking Truth Behind Maddie's Disappearance
The final episodes deliver a devastating revelation. It is uncovered that Maddie was not a victim of a random crime, but was in fact working as an informant for FBI agent Brian Abbot, played by David Lyons. Aware of her husband's dangerous nature, she was determined to gather evidence to put him behind bars for good.
Her world shattered when Agent Abbot informed her he had to drop the investigation, leaving her to face Nile alone. After a confrontation with her assistant, Nina (Brittany Snow), a heartbroken Nina revealed Maddie's secret to Nile. Realising she was a threat, Nile brutally murdered his wife with a sculpture and concealed her body in a landfill site.
A Web of Murder and Manipulation
The series further reveals that Nile was also responsible for the death of Teddy Fenwick, a crime for which he framed Aggie. This was uncovered by Nile's own father, Martin Jarvis (Jonathan Banks), who was so devastated by his son's actions that he suffered a stroke.
In a parallel storyline, flashbacks confirm that Aggie was, in fact, responsible for her own son's death due to a moment of inattention while driving. Wracked with guilt, she confesses to Teddy's murder to atone for her past, but urges Nina to trust her instincts about Nile.
Justice Served in a Final Confrontation
In a tense climax, Nina finally confronts her now-husband, Nile. He arrogantly confesses to killing both Maddie and Teddy, continuing his manipulative games. However, Nina had outsmarted him, secretly recording the entire confession on her phone, which led to his immediate arrest.
Nile's uncle, Rick, provided the police with additional evidence, ensuring a conviction. In a heartbreaking act of mercy, Rick ended his brother Martin's life in hospital to spare him the pain of witnessing his son's downfall. Nile received three consecutive life sentences.
While Aggie continued to visit Nile in prison, his story ended when his uncle arranged for prison contacts to kill him. The series concludes with Nina, who is pregnant with Nile's child, looking fearfully at her newborn, wondering if the child will inherit its father's dark nature.
