With Season 4 of Ted Lasso officially greenlit last week, casting is underway, including a search for a new young actor to play Ted Lasso's son, Henry. The character, previously portrayed by Gus Turner in the first three seasons, is now 12 years old and has developed into a skilled soccer player.
The recasting is believed to be driven by the need for soccer proficiency, as Henry's role may expand in the upcoming season. Gus Turner has been invited to audition, so he could potentially reprise the role. Representatives for Apple and Warner Bros. Television declined to comment.
In the first three seasons, Henry was largely seen through FaceTime calls with his father in London, with visits to the UK twice. The Season 3 finale showed Henry running to welcome his dad home after Ted returned to Kansas. Season 4 will begin filming in Kansas, where Henry's soccer talents may be showcased.
Confirmed returning cast members include Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift, with Juno Temple in negotiations. Co-creator Brendan Hunt is working as a writer and executive producer but has not yet signed an acting deal. The new season will follow Ted coaching AFC Richmond's women's team, as hinted in the Season 3 finale.
