Take Me Out is reportedly set to return to ITV with a glam female host, 15 years after the show was axed. The iconic dating show, which aired from 2010 to 2019 with Paddy McGuinness, is said to be making a comeback with a major twist in the hosting role.
Original host Paddy McGuinness is not expected to be involved, as producers are reportedly looking for a glam female host to front the revival. A source told The Sun: "Take Me Out was absolutely huge in the 2010s and was a stalwart of the primetime light entertainment schedule."
Potential Hosts in the Running
Emily Atack, Olivia Attwood and Maya Jama are said to be frontrunners for the hosting job. The source added: "Emily and Olivia's quick wit and timing make them favourites and Maya Jama was also considered perfect, but her links to Love Island make that tricky."
It is also reported that model Leomie Anderson could be a host alongside Olivia and Emily. Daily Star has contacted ITV for comment.
Production Details and Format
The source added: "Execs at Fremantle, the production company behind the reboot, want to ensure it has the same cheeky tone as the original. That's what set it apart from more serious dating formats which rely on beef and drama — and made it such a fun watch."
Plans are in development now and talks are underway with streamers including Netflix, but the landscape of TV is ever-changing, so the reboot could take a number of forms. The source noted that "little would need to be changed" about the original format of the show.
Original Show Legacy
Take Me Out saw a panel of 30 single ladies presented with bachelors trying to score a date on the "Isle of Fernando's" (Tenerife). One of Paddy's famous catchphrases was: "No likey, no lighty." This is because when a girl decides they're not interested in the bloke, they can turn off their light.
ITV announced in February 2020 that the show had been axed after 11 series. Eight couples who met on the dating show ended up getting married.
