Sunday Brunch Guest Issued Live On-Air Warning for Expletive

During the latest live broadcast of Channel 4's Sunday Brunch, comedian Sam Campbell found himself in hot water after a robotic mishap led to an unexpected swear word. Host Simon Rimmer was quick to intervene, issuing a stern warning to the guest and prompting an immediate apology.

Robotic Hand Fumble Sparks Live TV Incident

The incident unfolded on the March 15 episode, which saw radio presenter Yinka Bokinni stepping in as co-host for the absent Tim Lovejoy for a second consecutive week. The guest lineup included comedians Sam Campbell and Maisie Adam, MAFS Australia star Lucinda Light, singer Glenn Tilbrook, and actress Andi Osho.

Simon Rimmer, 62, initiated the segment by asking Australian-born comic Sam Campbell, 34, about a robotic hand on the table, inquiring if it was a toy. Campbell, a former Taskmaster winner, clarified that it was not a toy but a robot he had been "working with" and "teaching human values." He then attempted to demonstrate the device using a remote control.

However, the demonstration went awry when the robotic hand ended up on the floor. In a moment of frustration, Campbell exclaimed, "f**k," which was audible to viewers. Simon Rimmer promptly addressed the slip, stating, "Moderate your language by the way." Campbell quickly apologised, saying, "Sorry about that," diffusing the situation but highlighting the perils of live television.

Show Temporarily Shifts to E4 Amid Viewer Reactions

This episode marked a temporary change for the programme, which has been moved from Channel 4 to E4 to accommodate coverage of the Paralympics. The shift sparked mixed reactions from viewers, particularly regarding guest co-host Yinka Bokinni, 37.

Some viewers expressed nostalgia for regular host Tim Lovejoy, with one commenting online, "Never thought I'd say this, but not the same without Tim." Another added, "She's a bit too loud! Missing Tim. #SundayBrunch," while a third quipped, "@timlovejoy too good for E4 then...?" A fourth opined, "Not the same without Tim, you can't have Ant without Dec."

This follows recent criticism from viewers who have called for the show to be axed, with some insisting "it's time to knock it on its head." Previous episodes have featured guests like Russell Howard, Bridget Christie, actor Mark Benton, and Malachi Kirby, along with a performance by singer Bellah (real name Isobel Akpobire).

Viewer Debate Over Guest Lineup and Show's Future

Many viewers expressed confusion over the guest selections, with one stating on X (formerly Twitter), "Struggling for guests Sunday Brunch," and another asking, "Who?" on Facebook. A disgruntled viewer fumed, "Another week of z list 'celebrities' time to knock this show on its head," while another agreed, "Don't recognise any of them?"

Despite the criticism, numerous fans rallied to defend the programme. One supporter wrote on X, "Quite enjoying this week's #sundaybrunch not too many guests and I know the majority of them and ones I don't seem cool. Chill and funny." Another commented on Instagram, "I wasn’t familiar with any of the ‘international celebrities‘ today but it’s a good chance to discover new faces and always a brilliant watch."

A Facebook user added, "Great show as usual. This programme has everything, if you don't like it then don't want it!!! I love the guests, some we know, some we don't." Another shared, "I love Sunday Brunch! It's a must watch tradition in our house. I don't always like all the guests, so I just dip in and out."

Sunday Brunch continues to air on Channel 4 at 10am, with its temporary move to E4 reflecting broader scheduling adjustments. The show remains a staple of weekend morning television, blending celebrity interviews, cooking segments, and live performances, albeit not without occasional controversies like Campbell's swearing incident.
