Summer vows to stand by Marco after prison sentence in Coronation Street
Summer vows to stand by Marco after prison sentence

Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) has pledged to stand by love interest Marco Rhodes (William Teasdale) after he was sentenced to prison, following his arrest for involvement in a robbery earlier this month.

Marco, who had previously confessed to Summer that he had a criminal record for drug use, was denied bail after an accident while driving a getaway car. In upcoming scenes, Summer is disheartened to learn that Marco has been sent straight to prison from remand after losing his case.

Summer's prison visit and promise

At the first possible opportunity, Summer visits Marco and promises him that she will stick by him as his appeal gets underway, and that he will be successful and be a free man before they know it.

Later, she tells Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) and Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) her plan to stand by Marco, leaving viewers to question whether she is making the right decision.

How their relationship developed

Marco first caught Summer's eye when he complimented her art, though she was not best pleased when she later realised that he had torn out her design and was using it to advertise outside the tattoo parlour.

Eventually, they put their differences aside when Marco admitted to wanting to catch her attention, and they began discussing the possibility of Marco paying for more of Summer's artwork. Their conversation in the Rovers led to further dates and a kiss.
