In an unprecedented move for the hit BBC show, Strictly Come Dancing is set to welcome back four of its most memorable former contestants for a spectacular Blackpool special.
A Show First for the Iconic Blackpool Special
The annual trip to the legendary Blackpool Tower Ballroom will feature a never-seen-before event this year. Ashley Roberts, Danny Mac, Jay McGuiness, and Layton Williams are all confirmed to return to the dancefloor for one night only.
This special routine, scheduled for the weekend of November 22nd and 23rd, will see the celebrated alumni join forces with Strictly's professional dancers. They will perform a medley celebrating some of their most famous dances from their original series runs.
Reliving Iconic Routines
Choreographed by Jason Gilkinson, the performance will feature moves from Jay and Ashley's electrifying Jives, Danny's iconic Samba, and Layton's energetic Quickstep. Each of these routines originally earned massive praise from judges and viewers alike.
2015 champion Jay McGuiness will dance alongside finalists Danny Mac (2016), Ashley Roberts (2018), and Layton Williams (2023) in what promises to be an emotional return to the iconic venue.
The Stars Share Their Excitement
The returning stars have expressed their thrill about coming back to the Strictly dancefloor.
Ashley Roberts said: "I'm so excited and grateful to be back on the shiny floor in Blackpool again. Nearly a decade later, let's see if these jive legs can still do their thing! Sequins always help, I'm sure."
Danny Mac added: "Dancing in Blackpool was an absolute highlight of my time on Strictly. To be heading back up to The Tower Ballroom once again is as thrilling as it is terrifying, but I can't wait to be reunited with all the wonderful people who make this show."
Jay McGuiness shared: "I feel extremely lucky to be part of the Strictly alumni that are going to shake our booties again. I'm ready to have some fun with the old gang and the new gang."
Layton Williams commented: "I'm absolutely buzzing to be back on THE most iconic dance floor there is. Blackpool brings back so many fab memories and it's a true honour to be invited back... Let's hope I've still got it, eh?!"
The returning finalists' routine will air during Sunday's results show on November 23rd, alongside a performance from Lewis Capaldi joined by the Strictly professionals.
The Saturday show will feature a performance from Steps, who will sing some of their biggest hits accompanied by the Strictly Professional Dancers, celebrities, and the four judges.
This weekend, the eight remaining couples continue their battle to secure a coveted spot in the Blackpool special, with Olly Murs performing and Strictly professionals teaming up with Diversity for a special group number.
